2 batteries for 3 years on board a camper van and they are finally starting to give out. We have not been nice to these batteries. They are utilized 100% off-grid and mostly off-road, attached to 320watts of solar in Oregon. It’s not really sunny here if you didn’t know that. We’ve stored them underneath the van, outside on a tray. In short. We do not treat these batteries well, but they keep on ticking. They have been cycled over and over and drained below the 11.7 amp threshold multiple times. Had them in -0 temperature multiple times in Wyoming and Colorado. They are finally starting to show wear, not holding a charge like they used to. I can’t find room to complain. I just looked underneath and they are caked with mud and covered in grime from streams, dirt roads, you name it. I’m going to replace them with the same. The cost of lithium is still a little too high and these batteries work hard. If I can get another 3 years, that’s over $1k for 6 years of service. Maybe by then, Lithium prices will have come to their senses.

Looked at a lot of different batteries before settling on this one. Installed it as an auxiliary battery in my overlanding vehicle and hooked it to a 30 amp dc/dc charger. It's super heavy but I expected it to be. At 125Ah capacity it has one of the largest capacities of similar sized units. I really liked that the manufacturer clearly stated the charging parameters on their website for this battery so I could set up my charger accordingly. Been using it for a couple of months including a couple of camping trips with my dometic powered cooler running for a few days and other items running of a 2000 watt inverter I have hooked up to it. The battery has not complained once and charges right back up. I love it. I'm sure that charging at the correct voltages for the different phases of charging (bulk, absorption, and float) will help with overall battery health and longevity. I would not recommend charging this battery with a basic battery isolator. Use something with smart circuitry and preferably something that allows you to program the charging parameters.

These batteries are great quality, if a little heavy. Seller sends out really fast too. This is my second set of these batteries and I highly recommend them.

I bought this same battery 9 years ago and thought it was time to replace it, even though it still held a charge. I would have gone with Lithium but did not want to change out older charger.

Very heavy batteries and with free shipping a great deal. I searched for weeks on several web sites and could not beat these batteries for the 125 amp hours and the price. They had several top notch reviews and claim an 8 year life span. Having gone thru several lead acid batteries over the years even with constant solar trickle charge and topping off the water level, I could never get more than a year out of the old style batteries. I like that they are maintenance free, can handle rough roads and bouncing around, since I plan on boon-docking on back-country forest service roads. My last battery could not make it thru the night running the heater, so not only do these have more amperage, but instead of one battery I'm running two and I've set up a 4 panel solar charging system to keep them recharged each day. Yes it was expensive, but I really didn't like waking up to not just a dead coach battery but also the main engine battery drained as well. I accidentally had the engine cutoff switch in the wrong setting and it drained the engine and the coach battery running the heater in the cool desert during spring break. Fortunately my old single panel solar panel recharged the failing coach battery enough in three hours to start the generator and then recharge and start the RV. I camp too far off the beaten path to risk having a cheap battery fail. Expensive, but worth it!!!

Update: When I bought this for my solar system, I was so impressed with its performance that I bought a second one. for a couple of years they easily held 100% charge without recharging. Now after over 4 years of constant discharging and recharging they are still able to hold a 95% charge almost indefinitely. If I remember I'll try to give an update in another 4 years.

I bought 3 of these in 2020 and connected them to a solar panel setup. More than 4 years later they are still performing basically as new. Absolutely zero issues. Kind of remarkable actually.

We have been using 3 of these as the house battery bank for our 4x4 type-2 ambulance conversion. Before we installed them in our battery box, I dropped one out of the ambulance right onto its corner. It chipped off a small piece of plastic, and I wanted to make sure they were still safe to use, as I have very little experience with AGM batteries. I contacted VMax Tanks directly with some photos of my blunder, and they were extremely helpful, reassuring me that the battery was safe to use, while advising that I seal the chip to prevent long term loss of moisture and potentially decreased life. Top notch support. Our setup: The 3 battery bank is currently hooked up to a Renogy 40A charge controller on the *sealed acid battery* setting, which best matched the recommended charging rates. It's also connected to the old Xantrex FleetPower 2000 charger/inverter that came with the unit, which we left on its "flooded battery" setting, since it is much closer to the target charging rates than its "gel battery" setting, and never attempts to equalize the batteries without manual intervention (which should NEVER be done to AGM batteries). It is also capable of receiving charge from our dual alternators (through an isolator) which is regulated at a constant 14.3 volts. We can manually disconnect the batteries from the isolator, which is important in the very unlikely scenario that we seriously drain the house batteries (beyond what we ever should) and need to drive before the solar has had time to recharge the house batteries at all. With a low internal resistance, deeply discharged AGM's are subject to charging more rapidly than their ratings if placed on a charger that is only voltage regulated and capable of supplying more current than the bank's max charging current (our banks is charge-rated at 90A total, while our alternators are capable of delivering 220A).

Great Battery and Super Awesome Seller! I WILL BE ORDERING MORE! Had a problem with the delivery address, and they quickly fixed it for free! Got the battery in just 4 days! SUPER FAST SHIPPING, THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I'm using this as a second battery in my RV. My friend has the same one in his RV from 2 years ago and its still going strong. To get the most out of this battery, use the PAC BG-12 and a relay to shut down any equipment your running. It will prevent over draining the battery by cutting power at 11.6 volts and has a LED to warn you of low voltage. Secondly when storing your RV, or whatever your using the battery in, disconnect the negative side cable AND get a cheap float charger. If your not using it, don't just leave it hooked up to stuff. It will slowly drain it. Kinda like when you leave the batteries in that emergency flashlight. Then when you need it, it doesn't work. When you go to replace the batteries, they are all crusty. That's why. DON'T store stuff with batteries in them! DO NOT OVERCHARGE or DEEPLY DISCHARGE THESE BATTERIES AND THEY WILL LAST FOR YEARS. If charging with a AC 110V household type charger, make sure its a SMART DIGITAL charger. Solar charging systems usually already have this built in. Automotive alternators are also okay to use as long as its not completely dead (9 volts or less) If it is deeply discharged then use a AC smart charger to revive it. REGULAR OLD FASHIONED CAR BATTERY CHARGERS WILL KILL THESE BATTERIES. SAME GOES WITH THE OPTIMA BATTERIES. One of the reasons they have gotten a bad reputation. Any AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery needs to be treated differently than the regular lead acid batteries. This one is a heavy sob 75lbs. so with FREE SHIPPING, you can't beat the price. Sorry, no more Trojans or Optimas for me, VMAX is my new goto battery.

Bought in 2013 and I am amazed they still are going strong. I use them in parallel with my Xantrex ProWatt SW 2000 inverter (also excellent) to run our household full size refrigerator/freezer during power outages. I have run it for several days without having to use mt EU2000 Honda generator. I don’t think I’ve started the generator in a couple years (usually run it off my propane side). I would definitely buy these again (if they ever die).

I've used the SLR125 in several solar applications and never had any issues. These are excellent batteries, thank you!
5/5 rating Mr (USA on 10/26/2014) | February 17th, 2026
We have been testing batteries for our remote systems for about three years now. The VMaxtank is the timex watch of the bunch, it keeps on ticking. Solid build quality, steady performance at a reasonable price. Many of the battery packs we have tested are much more expensive, but only perform marginally better. We have and will continue to use the Vmaxtanks.

Kept my refrigerator running all night without fully discharging the battery. Power draw was around 135 watts. Planning to buy a second battery to run in parallel for longer running time. Also really like the sealed design so I don't have to worry about fumes or leaks. Very heavy battery though.

I bought this as an alternative to a marine battery. It fits in a standard series 31 marine battery box. I installed it and hooked it up to an AGM charger and too it out the next day for an overnight meteor watching trip. I ran the anchor, cabin, and nav lights for several hours. We also ran the GPS overnight with an anchor alarm on. After a 12 hour trip it started the 15 HP motor vigorously and provided power all the way back to the dock. When it was hooked back on the charger I found it still had %20 capacity left. I am impressed with this and its ability to deliver a full 12V high amp current even at a low charge. I plan on purchasing another one soon to be able to do multi day trips without hitting shore. We had taken a spare old deep cycle hooked to the solar panels but did not need it at all. Did I mention its a local product? Arrived to Toledo, Oh. From Midland Mi, in less than 24 hours from the time I ordered. I didn't expect to have it for the trip and was much relieved when it got to me in time to be charged up overnight. It is a heavy sucker so be ready, I have the old deep cycle in the opposite side of the boat to balance her out. Update 1 year later: I just bought battery#2 to make into a dual battery system on my sailboat. We were out sailing with a 30w solar panel and an auto pilot for 7 days and had no issues and 50% battery on day 7 60% batt1 40% batt2. We did no conservation and rarely hit shore, preferring mooring buoys and privacy. I bought my second battery direct from the sellers warehouse, with a cash discount no less. If you are in the downriver detroit area give him a call or an email. He also threw in a few freebies for driving 60 miles that were much appreicated, I will be replacing these in a few years with the new 155AH version or more, but there are great for solar storage and I have no issues in a year of use. ALSO this battery retained 90% charge in storage over winter on my garage floor. Super tough battery, I will be adding in a new dual battery meter next week then maybe post pictures of the setup.

I purchased two of these batteries in 2017 to power my conversion van. There was a solar system that constantly recharged and kept a float charge on them which probably was very good for them. They performed perfectly. They are still usable to this day but I would guess they are only able to hold about 80 percent of the charge they did brand new.

I bought this battery from Amazon in March 2017 and have been using it in a camping vehicle with a NOCO battery charger/maintainer while parked. This year I noticed that it is depleting quickly and will no longer last for a one-day camping trip (running a refrigerator and heater). After checking and discovering that I got a good five years out of the battery, I am pleased and just ordered an exact replacement today. I recommend. Lithium batteries are very nice, but to get double the storage (200 amp-hours) it will cost, literally, more than ten times as much to purchase the batteries and the required equipment. The installation labor will be more dollars still. AGM is just so much cheaper and simpler. Buy with confidence.

This is a long-term review. I use these batteries along with a 1500W pure sine wave inverter as a back up for the occasional power failures that happen here in the Northeast US. I purchased one in November 2012, yes, 2012, and another in 2019. They normally run in parallel and provide 12 V @ 250AH nominal to the inverter. However, about once a year I separate them and load test them separately due to the large difference in their age. At a 20 hour rate, they both met or were close to spec when new, 120-128ah each. Because the power failures here are very intermittent this is largely a float application. They only get cycled about 10-15 times per year so I can’t speak to cycle life. But the float life has been great. in my most recent test in May 2022, the older battery comes in at around 101 amp hours and the newer one at 122AH. Getting 80% of new capacity out of a 10 year battery is more than I expected. I have other UPS units in the house that use 9AH AGM batteries, and I have to replace those every three or four years. While the newer LiFePO4 batteries have many advantages over lead acid, they are still significantly more expensive than AGM. and lead acid batteries can be easily recycled whereas lithium can’t. While I would not recommend cycling lead acid to 100% DOD if you’re cycling them frequently, I have cycled mine to 100% DOD at least 150 cycles over 10 years and they’re holding up fine. I think lead acid can still be competitive in a float application like mine. Lithium is more cost effective for frequently cycled applications. Vmaxtanks batteries are more expensive than some of the other AGM brands, but I believe the long-term performance demonstrates that they are worth the money. If you’ve decided to go lead acid rather than lithium, in my opinion this is a great choice.
